Week 35 - Bedford Shower

The Babe:
This week the final touches are being added to our mini-masterpiece and most of the development is going to packing on the pounds. While babe's movements are supposed to be becoming less jerky, there is still that final somersault in the womb soon—to make it to the head-down position for birth. Other fascinating facts:our little Karate Kid can't quite pack the punch it used to due to the limited space inside the womb these days. The extra layer of fat our babe is adding will create those cute dimples on the babe's elbows and knees. The liver has begun processing waste products. The babe's nails are growing so long they may curl over the tips of those tiny fingers and toes before a pair of clippers ever meet them. The babe is now about 5½ pounds and over 18 inches long.

The Parents:

As Patrick Swayze put it, "Nobody puts baby in a corner!" This is doubly true for my little tenant. The baby has pretty much taken over my entire torso at this point! Over the past few months, the babe has squished and mushed all of my organs out of the way. Any day now, I am expecting a that babe to make a final move and shove my heart up and to the left to make more room for itself. Before all this pregnancy stuff, my uterus was a small ball the size of my fist and was tucked neatly away behind my pelvis. TODAY my uterus is the size of a small watermelon and reaches all the way up to my ribs!! CRAZY!!!! At this point in the pregnancy all the blood has gone to my belly ... literally. Nearly 1/6 of my body's total blood volume is chugging around in the vessels in my uterus. In case you cared to know!

This past weekend we had our first or two baby showers. My mom and Cheryl went over the top with this shower but it turned out SOOOO CUTE and we really had a great time seeing everyone and of course getting all those gifts for the unborn!!

Kunz side of the family...with an unfortunately HUGE side of the belly!

The Flippo side of the family
The AMAZING handmade animals that Gma Flippo made for the babe!!!
The AWESOME cake that Cheryl decorated for the shower...it was sad when we had to hack into it...but it tasted as good as it looked!! Thank you again mom and Cheryl!!
